2020-2021学年第二学期,北京理工大学设计与艺术学院2020级研究生在姜可教授和胡本立教授的指导下,分别在良乡校区和唐山研究院开展了为期三周的“整合创新设计研究”的课程和竞赛。在良乡,该课程是北京理工大学设计与艺术学院和伦敦中央圣马丁设计与艺术学院的联合项目。
In the second semester of the 2020-2021 school year, postgraduate students from the School of Design and Art of Beijing Institute of Technology, under the guidance of Professor Jiang Ke and Professor Ben Hughes, took part in an “Integrated Innovative Design Research”and competition in both Liangxiang and Tangshan campuses. In addition this project was created as a joint project of Beijing Institute of Technology School of Design and Art and Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, University of the Arts, London.
该项目以设计研究和实践为基础,依托Dulton的品牌文化和背景,对Dulton品牌产品设计进行创新。
The project is based on design research and practice, relying on Dulton’s brand culture and background to innovate new products based on the existing brand narrative.

唐山研究院的同学对厨房环境进行调研,良乡校区的同学则依托联合项目作对中英两国新兴(和潜在交叉)生活方式趋势的独立分析,学生根据实际需求进行创新设计,结合生产模式,提升实践创新能力,并将掌握的方法应用于设计。
Students from Tangshan conducted research on the kitchen environment, Students from the Liangxiang rely on a joint project to conduct independent analyses of emerging (and potentially intersecting) lifestyle trends in China and the UK. students carry out innovative designs based on actual needs, combine production models to enhance practical innovation capabilities and apply the methods they master to design.

课程介绍 Introduction
参加课程的学生来自不同的专业甚至国家。分组时,每组采用多专业组合,良乡校区增加一名圣马丁学院学生,让学生结合专业优势,充分交流沟通,充分调动小组讨论气氛。
Students taking part in the project came from different majors and even countries. When grouping, each group adopts a multi-professional combination, and Liangxiang campus integrated with students from Central Saint Martins, so that students can combine their professional advantages, fully communicate and fully mobilize each members’ strength during group discussions and design development.

在课程的第一周,本教授介绍了本项目的主题“整合创新设计研究”课程,引导学生对品牌和生活方式进行研究,用“头脑风暴”寻找设计机会,可用于家庭、办公室或公共场所,或在其他领域获得设计输出。
In the first week of the course, Professor Ben Hughes introduced the "Integrated Innovation Design Research" , the theme of this project , guided students to research on the brand and lifestyle, used "brainstorm" to find design opportunities, which can be used in home, office, or public places,or get design output in other areas.

品牌深入理解Deep understanding of Dulton
由于时间冲突,所以只有良乡校区的部分同学参观了工厂后进行分享。各组根据设计机会的分析和思路,良乡校区的同学则在李谦老师、马俊老师、姜可教授、胡本立教授的带领下深入工厂,了解品牌的材料加工方式和产品生产流程,帮助学员更好地了解品牌文化和制造产品的过程。
Students from Liangxiang campus were able to visit factories used by Dulton in the manufacture of their products. Under the leadership of Mr. Li Qian, Mr.Ma Jun from Dulton, and Professor Jiang Ke, and Professor Ben Hughes, students from Liangxiang went to the factory to learn about the brand's the methods of material processing and product production processes to help students understand brand culture and the process of making products.

结束后Dulton的李谦老师也对品牌进行了深入的介绍,介绍了品牌的发展历史、市场和产品,并对同学们的设计和存在的问题提出了自己的建议。
Mr.Li Qian from Dulton also gave an in-depth introduction to the brand, about the brand's development history, market and products, and put forward his own suggestions for the students' design and problems .

方案讨论 Discussion
学生在品牌分析的基础上,通过用户观察/文化调查/客户旅程/思维导图等方式进行设计分析并设计方案。
On the basis of brand analysis, students conduct design analysis and make plans through user observation/cultural survey/customer journey/mind map, etc.
良乡校区的学生通过线上和线下相结合的方式进行报告,专业指导组由北京理工大学姜可教授和本教授,以及中央圣马丁学院的拉尔夫教授、马特教授、莉莉教授和阿德里安教授组成。
Students from Liangxiang reported through a combination of online and offline methods. The professional steering group was composed of Professor Jiang Ke and Professor Ben Hughes from Beijing Institute of Technology, and Professor Ralph Ball, Professor Matt Malpas, Professor Lily Tagiuri and Professor Adrian Allen from Central Saint Martins.

几位教授对每组项目的个人方案都进行了专业指导,专注解决实际问题,实用创新设计,同时结合Dultond的设计理念和品牌风格。
Professors provided professional guidance to the individual solutions of each group of projects, focusing on solving practical problems, practical and innovative design, and at the same time combining Dultond's design concept and brand style.
讨论过后根据胡本立教授的建议,同学们采用纸模型制作方法对设计方案进行验证,结合专业知识与实践,深化设计,对方案反复进行探索和改进。
After the discussion, according to Professor Ben Hughes’s suggestion, the students used the paper model making method to verify the design scheme, combined professional knowledge and practice, deepened the design, and repeatedly explored and improved the scheme.

经过反复的模型推敲和修改,良乡校区和唐山研究院的同学也在最终汇报中呈现了完整的设计过程和和设计结果,教授们针对具体问题提出调整建议希望进行深化,并对学生们未来的设计思路提出了建议。
After repeated model scrutiny and revision, students from Liangxiang and Tangshan also presented the complete design process and design results in the final report. The professors put forward adjustment suggestions for specific problems, hoping to deepen them, and provide students with insights into the future.

该项目是与中央圣马丁的师生共同完成的,也有感谢Dulton的合作与支持。
课程结束后,Dulton团队还对来自北京理工大学设计艺术学院和中央圣马丁学院的学生作品进行了精挑细选。共评选出一等奖1名、二等奖3名、三等奖6名和优秀奖15名,对学生的工作表示鼓励和赞赏。
并于2021年9月18日邀请北京理工大学师生来公司参观,并为获奖学生举行了颁奖仪式。李谦老师为同学们颁发了证书,对同学们表示祝贺和肯定。
The project was completed jointly with the teachers and students of Central Saint Martins, and it also relied on the cooperation and support with Dulton.
After the course, the Dulton team also conducted a intensive selection of student works from the School of Design and Art of Beijing Institute of Technology and Central Saint Martins. A total of 1 first prize, 3 second prizes, 6 third prizes and 15 Excellence Award expresses encouragement were selected and appreciation for the student's work.
And on September 18, 2021, teachers and students from Beijing Institute of Technology were invited to visit the company and held an award ceremony for the award-winning students. Teacher Li Qian issued certificates to the students and expressed congratulations and recognition to the students.
姜可教授和胡本立教授也鼓励同学们继续深化自己的计划,能够拿出更多好的设计方案,这也将为未来设计的发展带来旺盛的动力。
Professor Jiang Ke and Professor Ben also encourage students to continue to deepen their plans, and they can come up with more good design plans, which will also bring vigorous power to the development of future design.
