Dominic Johnson-Hill will describe the development and management of his fashion, merchandising and graphic design business. He will talk about how an entrepreneur can be successful even in a competitive market. He will highlight process of innovation in product development and the recognition/creation of market opportunities. He will highlight the importance of cultural awareness, collaborative cross-overs and networking. He will show examples of innovative design and branding work that can be a reference and inspiration for students to improve their own design practice.

2021年4月14日,北京理工大学设计与艺术学院 “Buliding a Brand Through Design” 设计讲座在北京理工大学良乡校区理教103成功举行。

主讲人 Dominic Johnson-Hill 是 Plastered 8 的创始人和创意总监,讲座由 Ben Hughes 教授、姜可教授主持。

On April 14, 2021, The School of Design and Art of Beijing Institute of Technology hosted the lecture“Building a Brand Through Design” at Science and Education Block 103, in the Liang Xiang Campus, Beijing Institute of Technology.

Dominic Johnson-Hill, the founder and creative director of Plastered 8 gave the presentation. The lecture was hosted by Prof. Ben Hughes and Prof. Jiang Ke.

讲座18:00正式开始,姜可教授和Ben Hughes教授首先对 Plastered 8 品牌做了简要的介绍,随后Plastered 8创始人和创意总监 Dominic Johnson-Hill 向我们展示了品牌作品。讲座从个人经历谈起,并谈到创业历程,以及现在的品牌发展状况,Dominic Johnson-Hill 保持着极高的热情向同学们分享着他的过往经历,整个过程氛围融洽,学生热情高涨,讲座进行十分顺利。

The lecture started at 18:00. Prof. Jiang Ke and Prof. Ben Hughes first gave a brief introduction to the speaker. Then Dominic Johnson-Hill, showed us the brand's work. The lecture started from personal experience, and talked about the entrepreneurial process and the current brand development status. Dominic shared his experiences in an enthusiastic, entertaining and informative way.


Dominic Johnson-Hill 向我们展示其品牌的一些经典设计,以及自己的设计理念,并不断鼓励同学们创新,实践,拥有冒险精神,整个分享会大家都被他的热情深深感染,也对其品牌产生了浓厚的兴趣。

他从品牌的营销策略分析了他的创业历程,从最初的创业失败,到后面依旧坚持尝试,再到用心挖掘潜在的市场,把握时机和机遇,一步一步讲述着创业者的心路历程,让我们对品牌的建立有了一个更全面的了解,也被其品牌文化所吸引。

Dominic Johnson-Hill showed us some of his brand's classic designs, as well as his own design concepts, and constantly encouraged students to innovate, practice, and have an adventurous spirit. During the lecture, students were inspired by his enthusiasm and developed a strong interest for the brand.

He analyzed his entrepreneurial journey from the brand's marketing strategy. From the initial failure of starting a business, to insisting on trying later, and then to diligently digging out potential markets. He seized the opportunity and recounted the entrepreneur's journey step by step. He gave us a more complete understanding of the brand's establishment and the brand culture.

讲座分享结束后,Dominic Johnson-Hill热情地回答同学们的提问,并与姜可教授、Ben Hughes教授进行了深入交流。
